Tex Hill
In 1941 he was recruited to fly under the command of General Claire Chennault, leader of the American Volunteer Group (AVG), the famous Flying Tigers, in China. There he served as both flight leader and squadron leader of the 2nd Squadron, flying the famed Curtiss P-40 fighter.
Ken Jernstedt
A Marine pilot, who joined Claire Chenault’s Flying Tigers in China, Ken Jernstedt became the American Volunteer Group’s fifth-ranking ace, destroying more than 10 Japanese aircraft.
Charlie Bond
Joined the Flying Tigers in September, 1941, was credited with ten victories, was shot down twice and was awarded China's Fifth Order of the Cloud Banner and Seven Star Wing Medal.
Chuck Older
In July 1941 he resigned his reserve commission to join Chennault's American Volunteer Group (AVG), then forming in Burma.
Assigned to the 3rd Pursuit Squadron ("Hell's Angels"), Older participated in the first massive air battles over Rangoon, Burma and became one of the first two AVG aces on Christmas Day, 1941 when he added three Japanese aircraft to two destroyed on 23 December. Credited with five more victories by the time the "Flying Tigers" were disbanded on 4 July 1942, he returned to the States and joined the USAAF.
